  • 1/3 cup whole milk (plus more as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water carefully to achieve a thin batter.
  5. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
